A Draw of Kings is the last installment in the Staff and the Sword trilogy written by Patrick Carr.
(May contain spoilers.)
In the beginning of the book Weir attempts to consolidate his place on the throne after the King's death by corrupting most of the councils and the guards to be in his favor. We also find out that he has killed his own wife (because I highly doubt that she fell from the stairs) and has imprisoned Errol. With the help of Liam, Adora, Rokha and many more, they succeed to free Errol and dethrone Weir but people are still very skeptical about Errol so he volunteers to bring back the book of Magis that is left back in Merakh (in the second book) with his friend, Hadari, now residing in Ongol. Adora and Martin go separate ways but their goal is the same: to make more alliances to prepare for the war against the Mongols that have been possessed by the Malus. But many questions still remain. Who shall be the real King of Illustra?... and Who shall be its Savior?

Very good book! I think Carr has become one of my favorite authors. Terrific ending but it made me question things a bit like why was Merodach still alive. Why didn't he die along with Cruk? I also wish that Adora had more spent more time with Errol(come on, they are so cute). In addition, I just realized that after I finished A Draw of Kings, I still barely knew anything about Elar Indomiel. I really wouldn't mind if Carr wrote a separate book about his story alone. It should be quite interesting and since I don't really want to ruin the ending, I'll just say that it left me like.
Ingenious Patrick Carr, simply ingenious.
