Wow. It’s been a while since I've read a good romance novel.
Melanie’s family has sold her off to a couple of slave traders across the sea. When she’s been auctioned at a cathouse in London, she escapes and hides in a random carriage that happens to belong to Lord Christopher Ashworth. Christopher brings her to his house and they slowly fall in love. Will their love stand strong despite the rumors, and the misunderstandings?
This book was surprisingly beautifully written and didn't feel instalovy. Not once was I bored or uninterested and it wasn't oversexed like Outlander or Entwined with you. It depicts the struggles of love and the problems that can happen. It was realistic (well the love story, not the world building) and was a very enjoyable read even though several spelling mistakes are present (ex: "Chit"). With a "C"...Really? Hell no. It's just that this book really doesn't stand out from the countless romance books in this world. Nevertheless, I still liked it. I just didn't love it.
3.5 stars
P.S: Geez that cover. I thought I was going to read about a damsel in distress in an opera or something. CHANGE IT!
