This book made me feel like I was living through my mid-terms/finals week: stressed out and unsure if I would come out alive.
The whole book was mainly about Ryiah trying to fight for her place in one of the most prestigious schools of magic and combat--The Academy. But when she finds herself going against Darren, the prince-in-waiting, and many sons and daughters of noble families that have practiced since they were children, can she make it?
I really dislike Darren. Seriously. I don't care how much you'll tell me how hot and wonderful this guy is, I'll still tell you that I hate him. He's even worst than Kerrick inTouch of Power. He's arrogant as fuck and I know that he doesn't hit her physically or anything there, but he walks around like he owns the place and he doesn't give two shits about anyone. Prince or not, that is what I call being an asshole. #teamIan #dontkillme #blacksheepintheherd
Other than that, the writing is pretty good. We don't know much about the world, but that's also because it isn't very important in this case and the whole book is about the training and that's understandable because you wouldn't expect me to fight off evil dictators or zombies after one year of training right?
It's somewhat realistic and I liked that. I expect a lot of action, deceits/secrets and hidden motives in the next one though.
P.S.: Alex and Ella? I ship it.
