Errol Stone is a young boy who's head got caught in the ale barrel after the death of his presumed father. Set on a mission to send a secret message to the pater Martin, Errol finds himself being chased down by an unknown enemy. Once he finds Martin and his assistant Luis, it is revealed that he's an omne, a very rare kind of reader that many enemies of the throne are willing to eliminate, and that his destiny might be a lot different than what he once thought it would be.
I thought it was excellent. The characters, the settings and the plot was very well developed. At first, I was a little annoyed by Errol's obsession with alcohol but after when he overcame the addiction, the story was way more fluid and interesting because only then could we see the intelligence and the courage of our main character. Also, I really hope that Carr develops more about Rale in the next books because he is just so kind and thoughtful. I'm really excited to read the sequel and I recommend this book to everyone.
