In the second book of the Staff and the Sword trilogy written by Patrick Carr, Errol is wrongly accused of trying to usurp the throne and is set under compulsion by the church to kill Sarin Valon, a great enemy of the kingdom. Meanwhile, Martin and Luis are going back to Callowford to find out who are the real parents of Errol and why is he so important.
Meh. I mean it was good but it just took a really long time to get there. The beginning was very slow and it was only about at the last quarter of the book that the story started rolling. Furthermore, I think that Carr could've developed more on Errol's side about his relationship with Adora because I didn't feel like he really liked her until the chapter "Blood Rose". I also liked the twist at the end that will probably change everything in the third book. All in all, I think that Carr did a decent job with The Here's Lot. Can't wait to read the sequel!
